Every child is gifted. They just unwrap
their packages at different times.

Our Mission Statement

To provide a safe, nurturing environment where children can boost their grades and build their confidence.

Our Promise

The relationships we build at  Tutor Tots are all very important to us.  We promise to treat all children and parents with the respect they deserve.  We promise to provide an environment that puts the fun back into learning, gives children permission to express themselves, nurtures a child's learning journey, builds confidence, and celebrates the uniqueness in every child.

Contract

Before starting with Tutor Tots, you will be asked to complete an Agreement for Tutoring Services which will include the type of tutoring, child's name, parent information, emergency contact,  cancellation policy, terms and conditions, et cetera.  All information is kept confidential, as per the Privacy Act of Canada.  Failure to comply with the terms of the Agreement may result in immediate termination of tutoring services.

Payment

Monthly payments are due on the first day of every month. To calculate your monthly payment, click on Calendar to determine the number of tutoring days your child will have that month and then multiply that number by the fee per class. Failure to make payments on time may result in termination of services.

Payment Method:
E-transfer to angela@tutortots.ca.  Tutor Tots is registered for auto deposit.

Cancellations

Cancellations must be made by 9:00 a.m. on the day of your child's tutoring session.  Any cancellations after 9:00 a.m. will be charged for the full session and will not be eligible for a make up class. Please note that too many cancellations may result in a termination of tutoring services. Termination will be at the discretion of Tutor Tots.

No reimbursements will be given for make up classes that are not used by the student. We will give you the opportunity to chose from several different tutoring days and times for the make up classes, so it is important that you confirm one of them.

Any cancelled classes by Tutor Tots will be fulfilled by a make up class (other than those classes cancelled for statutory holidays, March break, et cetera) or a reimbursement of payment.

Please text Tutor Tots at 416-433-4863 to cancel any classes.  Please do not email.

No Shows/Emergencies

Any no-shows (cancellation notification not given at all or a cancellation given after your child's scheduled time has already begun) will be subject to the full class fee and will not be eligible for a make up class.  In addition, tutors will remain online for 15 minutes. If a student does not show up for class, the tutor will end the class, and this will be considered a no-show.  We will not be sending out text reminders that you are late for your class.

Emergency situations will be assessed by Tutor Tots, and whether a make up class is provided or not will be at the discretion of Tutor Tots.

Make Up Classes

Your child is eligible for a make up class if his/her class is cancelled by 9:00 a.m. on the day of his/her tutoring session.  For Saturday students, cancellation must be before 7 a.m. on the day of tutoring. Please note that you cannot have more than 2 make up classes on the cancellation list.  If you exceed the 2, every cancellation after the permitted 2 will not be eligible for a make up class.

Assigned Tutor

Tutor Tots will assign your child to the tutor best qualified to address your  child's needs.  However, Tutor Tots cannot guarantee that your child will see this tutor at every scheduled class.  Illness, vacation, family emergencies, exams, et cetera, might necessitate the assignment of a different tutor.  If Tutor Tots assigns another tutor to teach your child, we will ensure that the tutor has the qualifications necessary to provide the best learning environment for your child.

Two-Subject Tutoring

Tutor Tots does not offer two-subject tutoring after Grade 5.  With two-subject tutoring, the tutor will concentrate on the  area of need, during your child's class.  We do recommend that if your child is struggling in two subject areas you book classes for twice a week.

Homework from Tutor Tots

Your child will receive homework at every class (high school students may not).  The homework is an extension of what has been taught in the classroom.  Homework completion is an important learning component of our program.  However, we also acknowledge that school work takes priority over any homework assigned by Tutor Tots. We also understand that family commitments may interfere with a student's ability to complete the homework

It is not our goal to turn homework into a negative experience for the students, and we do not want students to be fearful of coming to class because their homework has not been completed. So, if a student fails to complete the assigned homework, then Tutor Tots reserves the right to complete that homework as part of the student's next session or not assign any other homework until the previously assigned homework has been completed.

Please Note:  No homework is given out during Christmas/Winter Break, Spring Break or Summer Break.

Homework from School

We are here to help your child with his/her schoolwork, and by helping your child with his/her schoolwork we will have a better understanding of his/her teacher's expectations.  To get your child's homework to us, please ensure that you: 1) take an picture of the homework and email it to angela@tutortots.ca;  2) create a PDF and send it angela@tutortots.ca; or 3) upload the work yourself into your child's class (you will get Online Tutoring Instructions) to assist with this.

Expectations

Tutor Tots prides itself on creating personalized programs that will help your child boost his/her grades and build his/her confidence.  Although we have a success rate that we are extremely proud of, we cannot guarantee this, so we ask that parents manage their expectations.  If your child is attending once a week vs. twice a week, this makes a difference in the learning process.  If your child is combining two subject areas into one class versus spending one hour on each subject, this too makes a difference in the learning process.  If your child is not doing his/her homework, this will slow down the learning process.  If Tutor Tots is not provided with information on what is being taught in the child's school classroom, we cannot guarantee we will cover the same material, so this will slow down the learning process. Of more importance, every child learns at a different pace, so it is not fair to compare your child to someone else's.

For Math Students: It is imperative that we know what your child is doing in math before 2 p.m. on the day of your child's scheduled tutoring class.

Blog

Tutor Tots has a blog page located on its website at www.tutortots.ca.  This blog is filled with valuable information that may assist with your child's learning.

Extra Programs

From time to time, Tutor Tots will introduce some programs independent of one-on-one tutoring.  For example, we may host a fundraiser to help members of our community.  We may host a writing competition or math competition.  These extra programs are at no extra charge and are aimed at building confidence and getting your children excited about learning.

Why do we do fundraising? Studies have shown that helping others has a profound effect on your brain's chemistry.  It promotes joy, gives you a sense of purpose, helps you create a better relationship with yourself, and build self-esteem. Participation in any of these programs is voluntary and not mandatory.

Termination of Services

The Agreement for Tutoring Services may be terminated by either party by giving 7 days notice.
